Welcome to my website!

I am a postdoctoral research fellow at the Center for Civil Society Research, a joint initiative of the WZB Berlin Social Science Center and Freie Universität Berlin.

My research lies at the intersection of comparative politics, political sociology, and political communication. I study democracy and political conflict, with a particular focus on political mobilisation, political violence, public opinion, and the role of political communication in democratic societies. My current research examines how political and societal actors respond to political and democratic challenges.

I received my PhD from Freie Universität Berlin. Previously, I was a visiting scholar at Harvard University's Minda de Gunzburg Center for European Studies, Sciences Po Paris, and the University of Oslo. I have also worked on the WZB Protest Monitoring project and at the Humboldt Institute for Internet and Society (HIIG).

Methodologically, I combine quantitative and qualitative approaches, including text-as-data, network analysis, survey experiments, and interviews.

My research has been published in leading peer-reviewed journals, including the European Journal of Political Research, Journal of European Public Policy, Political Communication, Political Research Exchange, and European Societies. My first book, How the Far Right Reshapes Public Debates: Discursive Mainstreaming, is under contract with Oxford University Press.

My work has received several awards, including the Dissertation Prize of the German Political Science Association.

Beyond academia, I regularly engage with civil society organisations, policymakers, and the media. I also manage the WZB Civil Society Advisory Board. My research has been featured in international and national media outlets, including The Guardian and Der SPIEGEL.
